Dublingo – ‘Moodles #1’ EP
DUBLINGO ANNOUNCES 1ST 5-TRACK EP RELEASE OF 2015; LISTEN TO ALL SONGS ON BANDCAMP
Dublingo AKA Wally is an Irish producer/composer from Dublin, living in the Basque Country and making dark, instrumental mood music or “DUB NOIR” a mix of Dub, Exotica, Waltzes, Synths, Jazz, Classical, Spy-Fi, Lounge, Opera, Theme music… Tunes are built up from melodies and chords and scraps of music using fragments and elements of voice, instrument and sound effect recordings to create mood pieces with shades of everything from Erik Satie to Lee Baxter to King Tubby to Jerry Dammers.
‘Moodles #1’ EP
Over 30 pieces are in production with the first 5 tunes released in April 2015 as Moodles #1, (Moodles is a play on words for Musical Doodles) The first EP features ‘Persian DUB’, a dub reggae instrumental with an eastern mood and feel, ‘One Fine Blow’, an echo-chamber vibe built around sparse guitar chords building up to a spy-fi finale and the 3 ‘Satiepedes’, a tip of the hat to Erik Satie. Three solo piano pieces built on a duppy or ghostly soundscape; ‘Captain Kane’, ‘The Sham Squire’ and ‘The Black Heart’. The three titles are taken from the history of an old cemetery in Dublin and tied together in a fictitious gothic fable.
Dublingo bio
Wally, real name Peter Walsh, has been writing music on and off for the last 25 years. Dublingo was borne from a decision to give air to the dozens of tunes gathering dust on old 4-track cassettes. Wally previously released a 7 inch vinyl record back in 1998 as ‘JAVA’ on Dublin’s Ultramack label called Prelude/Javalanche. Co-conspirator on the Dublingo recordings (as he was on the JAVA sessions), is guitar-ace: Gavin Murphy AKA Marvin Fluffy.
